Only Time

On time and destiny, and what they reveal when we wait — a long night, and a fear of the day.

Who can say where the road goes?
Where the day flows? Only time
And who can say if your love grows
As your heart chose? Only time

Who can say when the roads meet?
That love might be in your heart?
And who can say when the day sleeps
If the night keeps all your heart?
Night keeps all your heart

Only time will tell you everything. They say that sometimes you have to leave it to time to reveal to you all that it holds. I believe that without the slightest doubt — but I also believe that what time will tell you is what you did, or what life did.

Every soul is held in pledge for what it has earned.

So each day, when you go to sleep, you must make sure you did everything for that thing you want — whether it is a person, a life, or a work. But if that time comes and you have not found it, though you did all you could, then here is the wisdom of destiny and of time: what struck you was never meant to miss you, and what missed you was never meant to strike you. In this life Noah lived a thousand years, and still only a little reached him.

My words were never meant to be a justification; rather, what they carry of meaning I am still trying to teach myself first. I have come to fear what time will tell me — afraid it will tell me the things I do not want to hear, or that much will pass me by before I hear what I love.

The night here is very long, yet I still fear the day more. And what I fear most is that I will not see, in the day, that person I know in the night — that I will not see them as they are.

Many are the words, if we write; little the coherence, if we look closely. But perhaps they are much of what is inside me, waiting for destiny’s answers.
